The Truth about the topics on the poll
(aka)
What really happened to me in Japan...

Just to ruin your fun and imaginings of what I did in Japan... here are the actual answers.

#1.  "...lost his plane ticket out and had to find a job to get back to Canada."

No. This didn't happen. This choice was suggested by The Infernal Jynk refering to the cyber comic Megatokyo. I did not loose my ticket and how could I get a job when I hardly speak Japanese? I could have got a job teaching english but you have to be qualified for that... which I am not.

#2.  "...went around calling everyone Mel."

No. This didn't happen either. For those of you who have been coming to the poll, you just know that this is a running gag. That's it.

#3.  "...got lost at Shinjuku train station."

No. This didn't happen to me, but we did forget one girl at Shinjuku station once. We had twenty-one people in one group and some went to the bathroom. She was there a little too long and with the huge group... we kinda forgot her and didn't notice she was missing until we actually got to where we were suppose to be. Two guys went back and found her no problem, so it ending with a happy ending.

#4.  "...went to a communal bathhouse."

No. This didn't happen either. I wanted to, just to say that I did, but we went at the end of the trip and I didn't even have ¥200 to my name, let alone ¥400 to go to the communal bathhouse. Most of the group went... I think, but I just had a private shower that night.

#5.  " ...went around watching anime and buying manga."

Well, yes this did sort of happen. I did watch a few new animes (to me anyway). I watched "Ah! Megamisama!" (translated: Oh! My Goddess!), "Attack #1", and a few I don't know the names of, but there was tons of anime there. Manga? Oh yes, I've got manga. To make a long story short - I brought forty-three books home with me to Canada - twenty-eight Rurouni Kenshin, five Cardcaptor Sakura, five Trigun, two Ranma, one Hunter x Hunter and a Jesus manga, plus one Rurouni Kenshin as a gift for a friend. To add to that, I received three Japanese anime magazines and two Final Fantasy X posters as well. (Final Fantasy X is ¥8,800 if you have it and understand Japanese! Came out July 19th!)

#6.  "...wandered Shijiku and got handed 100 free tissue packets."

Well, I didn't get one hundred free packets but I did get a lot. The Japanese use them as advertising and people carry tissues everywhere they go. I learned that too. You also carry an umbrella with you during the rainy season. You just never know...

#7.  "...ate sushi."

I ate sushi, yes. I even tried raw pink salmon sushi but I don't think I tasted it because I tried a sour plum sauce with it and all I tasted was the plum sauce I think. Personaly, I love cooked tuna sushi but tuna is really expensive in Japan. To get rid of the common myth, sushi isn't just raw fish. It's whatever you want wrapped inside rice and seaweed sheets. They're really good!

#8.  "...got sick by eatting too much Pocky."

I didn't eat too much Pocky, but I wish that I had brought some more home, along with some "Crunky" chocolate bars. Yes, the name is Crunky. Don't know why, but it's a cool name I think. ;)

#9.  "(all of the above)"

Well, that is definately false if I didn't do some of the things. Obviously.

One of these days, I'll have a page speically for my Japan trip but that will be after I get my new scanner (of which I have yet to purchase) hooked up.
